THE club would like to clarify for our members and supporters the situation regarding Daniel Motlop’s non-selection in round 1.

“We want to clarify the situation regarding Daniel’s non-selection and apologise if anyone felt they weren’t fully informed,” Power Football Operations Manager Peter Rohde said.

Daniel suffered an ankle injury after the final NAB Challenge match against GWS and despite being fit to play against Collingwood, had not met the standards expected by the coaches and leadership group during his rehabilitation and therefore was not selected.

The decision was made by the match committee.

“The coaching group has set standards about preparation that all players are expected to adhere to and Daniel wasn’t up to those standards,” Rohde said.

“Daniel has been fantastic over the pre-season and we fully expect to him to be back in the mix in the coming weeks.”

The club is looking forward to a massive day this Saturday when, for the first time the Power and Magpies will play together on the same day as One Port Adelaide Football Club.

The Magpies kick off the SANFL season at 11.15am against SANFL rival Norwood followed by the Power versus West Coast clash from 2.40pm.
