Port Adelaide has named exciting forward Wade Thompson in its squad to face Essendon on Sunday at AAMI Stadium. Thompson is joined in the squad by Premiership hero Josh Carr.

With nearly a full list to choose from, Football Manager Peter Rohde said the Power’s selection committee had a welcome challenge ahead of them when they met on Thursday afternoon.

“It’s great to have a full list to choose from,” Rohde said. “With Chad and Shaun back in the side it gives us added flexibility and with the return of Josh Carr we’ve added more depth to the midfield.

“Peter Burgoyne will also rotate through the midfield more in 2009 and along with Shaun and David Rodan, we feel we’ve got some great clearance players.

“Nathan Krakouer has arguably had the best form of the group over the pre-season and he’ll take Peter’s place in defence. He’s had an uninterrupted pre-season for the first time, as has Robbie Gray, and we think they’ll be important additions to the team this year.”

The Power’s squad of 25 to face the Bombers, as named at 4.30pm on Thursday, is as follows…
