Ollie Lord
CLUB: Sandringham Dragons / Geelong Grammar
DATE OF BIRTH: 2nd January, 2002
HEIGHT: 195cm
WEIGHT: 84kg
POSITION: Key Forward
PORT ADELAIDE has added Ollie Lord to its list after claiming the exciting tall forward with pick 49 at Wednesday night’s 2020 AFL National Draft.
Rated amongst the best tall forwards in the draft pool, Lord comes in at 195cms, and is renowned for being good overhead and strong enough to hold his ground in a body on body contest.
He has been compared to twins Ben and Max King and even Richmond’s Tom Lynch given his size, athleticism and leap.
Lord comes from good stock. His father Darren Lord was on Geelong’s list for two years without playing a game but his Grandfather Alistair Lord won the 1962 Brownlow Medal and was part of the 1963 Premiership team with the Cats alongside his twin brother and Ollie’s great uncle Stewart Lord.

Port Adelaide’s National Recruiting Manager – Geoff Parker on Lord:
“He hasn’t spent a lot of time in the talent pathway because he’s been boarding down at Geelong Grammar. He’s a tall key position forward who attacks the contest and can take a good mark.
“He’s raw because he hasn’t been in the program and will take some time to develop but given the tall forwards we’ve got we can give him that time. There’s no expectation he’ll play straight away but he can learn off Charlie Dixon and Todd Marshall and Mitch Georgiades.
“We just like that he’s pretty athletic, he goes at the ball hard, and if he doesn’t mark, he follows up at ground level and applies good defensive pressure.
