PORT ADELAIDE defender Dan Houston remains in contention to play against St Kilda on Sunday night despite suffering an AC joint injury on the weekend.

Houston was replaced at half time of Port’s win over Carlton on Saturday night after he was unable to continue playing following a couple of heavy collisions to his left shoulder. He had scans on Sunday which showed no major damage to his AC joint but will need to prove his fitness to be selected to face the Saints.

Fellow defender Hamish Hartlett is expected to be able to feature after sustaining a quad contusion early in the weekend’s win. He was able to see out the game despite his running being impaired but has pulled up well and is expected to be available for the ANZAC Day clash.

Midfielder Jackson Mead will spend a period on the sidelines after suffering a lacerated spleen during the club’s SANFL game against South Adelaide on Saturday. Mead played out the game but was taken to hospital after experiencing increasing discomfort later that evening. The teenager is currently recovering in hospital, with a timeframe for his return to become clearer as his condition improves.

Defender Riley Bonner continues to increase his training load, as he nears a return from a hamstring injury, which has sidelined him since the Round 1 win over North Melbourne.

Port Adelaide faces St Kilda at Adelaide Oval on Sunday night from 6:10pm ACST.

The team will be named on Saturday evening at 5:50pm ACST.
