PORT ADELAIDE could have two father-son debutants among three Port Adelaide players named to make their SANFL debuts in Saturday’s Round 6 clash against the Crows.

It will be a memorable occasion with the game to be played as a double header with the AFL Showdown at Adelaide Oval.

Jase Burgoyne - the son of two-time Port Adelaide premiership player Peter Burgoyne, who played 270 games for the club – has been named to make his SANFL debut and play for the club for the first time after being given permission by the AFL and Woodville-West Torrens to play for Port for four weeks.

Burgoyne is a Port District junior who is part of the Eagles’ Under 18 side and is eligible to be drafted at the end of the year by Port Adelaide as a father-son.

His older brother, rookie-listed forward Trent Burgoyne will miss the game with a hamstring injury.

Miller Carter has also been named for his SANFL debut.

Carter is the son of five-time Port Adelaide premiership defender Stephen Carter who played 172 games for the Magpies and ten for the Power.

Experienced defender Tyson Goldsack will also make his official club debut after recovering from a knee injury suffered in the pre-season.

Goldsack was to have been the club’s SANFL leadership player in 2020 before its participation in the competition was blocked due to the AFL’s COVID-19 rules.

His inclusion will offset the loss of experienced midfielder Tom Rockliff, who suffered a knee injury in last week’s win over the Eagles.

Kane Farrell, Peter Ladhams, Trent McKenzie, Riley Bonner and Jarrod Lienert have been kept aside pending the selection of the AFL side on Friday evening.

Any AFL emergency not used will be eligible to feature at SANFL level.

Port Adelaide hosts the Crows at Adelaide Oval on Saturday from 3:35pm.
