PORT ADELAIDE is pumped for the opportunity to play at Adelaide Oval against the Adelaide Crows in the SANFL Showdown today.

The Magpies and Crows will battle in the curtain raiser to the AFL Showdown later this evening and coach Matthew Lokan said it’s a huge opportunity for his players.

“It's obviously a big game this week being the Showdown and it being played at Adelaide Oval,” he said.

“It's a good opportunity for our guys and not just for our contracted guys, a lot of our younger guys that are on the AFL list haven't played at Adelaide Oval either.

“Even these days, we don't get to train on there too much as well.

“For our whole group, it's an opportunity to be able to play in front of our Port Adelaide supporters.

“To be able to play at Adelaide Oval at any time is a special occasion for us.”

Lokan also said from a coaching perspective it’s a good opportunity for him and his team.

“From a personal point of view, to be able to be exposed to that is a good opportunity for us as well,” he said.

“As a footy club, we're really excited to have two games at Adelaide Oval and hopefully it can be two wins.”

Peter Ladhams was one of several strong performers against the Eagles who will be pushing his case for an AFL recall against the Crows.

Port Adelaide was terrific last week against Woodville-West Torrens, but Lokan said they’ve moved onto this week quickly.

“We've reviewed it very thoroughly. When you play a game like that, we need to still take a lot of education and growth out of it,” he said.

“We reviewed it in depth like we normally do, but you also have to move on pretty quick.”

The Crows lost a thriller to Sturt last round and Lokan is expecting a tough game.

“It was really, really close game,” he said.

“They've got some young guys in their team that just have a crack.

“It's going to be a contested game and that's the way we like it.”

The SANFL Showdown gets underway at 3.35pm at Adelaide Oval.
