Ryan Burton's big grab against Geelong has won the popular vote for Mark of the Year.

PORT ADELAIDE defender Ryan Burton’s last quarter mark against Geelong last week has taken out the popular vote as the Round 13 2021 AFL Mark of the Year.

Burton came from the side and courageously leapt over an opponent, taking the ball cleanly before landing awkwardly on his head.

The 24-year-old took eight marks in the 21-point loss but this was by far the best, and was judged to be so by those who voted this week.

Burton’s mark beat the other Round 13 nominees including North Melbourne’s Lachie Young and Geelong’s Esava Ratugolea.

At the conclusion of the 2021 Toyota AFL home and away season, the AFL Game Analysis Committee will select the best three marks from a selection of 28 (the 23 round winners, along with 5 other contenders as determined by AFL Media). The best three will be based on a 5/4/3/2/1 vote given by each member of the selection committee.

Voting will open after the 2021 Toyota AFL home and away season for the 2021 Four’N Twenty AFL Mark of the Year and the overall winner will be selected by the AFL Game Analysis Committee (counted as 10 votes) and by public voting (counted as 1 vote).

The winning AFL player of the 2021 Four’N Twenty Mark of the Year will be announced at the 2021 Brownlow Medal.
