Trent McKenzie celebrates his goal against Melbourne on Thursday night.

PORT ADELAIDE defender Trent McKenzie has been nominated for the 2021 Rebel AFL Goal of the Year for his extraordinary long bomb from outside 50 in Thursday night’s game against Melbourne.

The 29-year old came wheeling around the corner to receive the handpass from teammate Travis Boak, dropping the ball onto his left boot, launching it through the two middle sticks.

The key defender’s goal was his first in Port Adelaide colours and his 23rd in his 132 game career.
