Powerful forward/midfielder Xavier Bamert made his way to Alberton with Pick 5 in the 2026 mid-season draft. After being overlooked in his draft year, Bamert joined North Melbourne’s VFL team and impressed recruiters as a big-bodied midfielder with a powerful left foot, high work-rate and element of aggression to his game. Bamert kicked eight goals from four games with the Kangaroos while averaging 16 disposals per game.
Bamert made his AFL debut just 15 days after being drafted and went on to play every remaining game of Port Adelaide's 2026 campaign. Having proven he has plenty of X-factor, as well as a strong work rate and dedication to improving, Bamert has all the tools to become an important part of Port Adelaide's future.
