Powerful forward/midfielder Xavier Bamert made his way to Alberton with Pick 5 in the 2026 mid-season draft. After being overlooked in his draft year, Bamert joined North Melbourne’s VFL team and impressed recruiters as a big-bodied midfielder with a powerful left foot, high work-rate and element of aggression to his game. Bamert kicked eight goals from four games with the Kangaroos while averaging 16 disposals per game. In his draft year, Bamert captained the Sandringham Dragons to a grand final appearance and played all four games for Victoria Metro in the under 18 national championships.
