Trent McKenzie
At A Glance Junior Clubs: Clubs: Gold Coast, Port Adelaide Debut: R2, 2011 Recruited from: Gold Coast Sponsors: Adelaide Obstetrics Ex-Sun McKenzie came to Alberton as a delisted free agent in the 2017 trade period. McKenzie was one of 12 teenagers signed to the Gold Coast’s inaugural list and he played in both the club’s first AFL game and first AFL win, ironically against Port Adelaide. Given the nickname ‘Cannon’ because of his ability to kick the ball long distances with his left foot, he was delisted by the Suns after 106 AFL games at the end of 2017. TIMELINE 2018 McKenzie made his club debut against Essendon in Round 4 but only managed the one senior game in 2018. He had an injury-interrupted campaign with the Magpies, but when he played he was superb. The raking left-footer earned a one-year contract extension.
