The talented left-footer flourished in his hometown after being traded from the Brisbane Lions. Polec’s speed and delivery was outstanding at times and his goalscoring capability is a tremendous asset. Polec played 24 games in his first year at Port, but was restricted to just five in his second after suffering a serious navicular injury. Polec was a standout junior footballer with local side Woodville West-Torrens who made his SANFL debut at just 16 years of age and made an immediate impact, earning a SANFL Rising Star Nomination in his debut senior match. TIMELINE 2014 Polec managed just 16 games in three years at Brisbane because of consistent injury problems, but he played 24 out of a possible 25 games in 2014. The dashing left-footer showed just why he was taken at pick 5 in the 2010 draft - his run-and-carry, combined with his pinpoint left foot became a key part of the Power’s midfield. He had career-highs of 30 disposals and 3 goals in Round 7 against GWS, earning him the three Brownlow votes. 2015 A serious injury to his navicular bone ruined Polec's 2015, ruling him out after Round 5. It is the type of injury that can curtail a career and the Power was ultra-cautious in ensuring he did not return to running prematurely. 2016 Returned from the navicular injury and showed glimpses of his bizarre, yet amazing running prowess - not quite the side-stepping master of his first season with the Power, but certainly playing like a man on the brink of recapturing his peak form. Will be better for getting another season under his belt following the navicular injury. 2017 22 matches in 2017 was a positive sign for the running machine after injury interruptions in 2015 and 2016. Polec was Port Adelaide’s most influential runner, leading the team in most metres gained throughout the year.At a Glance Junior Clubs: Seaton, Woodville-West Torrens Clubs: Brisbane Lions (2010 National Draft, pick 5), Port Adelaide (2013 trade period) Debut: R3, 2011 Recruited from:Brisbane Lions Sponsors: Mascione Group
