Notching up his 100th game in 2021, big-bodied defender Tom Clurey is a reliable piece in one of the AFL’s strongest backlines. Often tasked with standing the opposition’s most dangerous tall forward, Clurey is known for his strength and habit of gluing himself to his opponent. His commitment to the club was reinforced with a contract extension, keeping him at Alberton until 2025.

With huge pressure for backline spots, compounded by a jaw injury, Clurey did not see as much time on the park than he would have liked in 2021, managing 11 games. He’ll be looking to prove himself as a mainstay in Port’s defence that can work with fellow big men Tom Jonas, Trent McKenzie and Aliir Aliir.
