A former Port Adelaide junior, the Thevenard-raised big man returned to the club through free agency in 2018 after winning that year’s AFL premiership with West Coast. Following Paddy Ryder’s departure from the club, Lycett has assumed the mantle – averaging a career-best 26 hit outs per game in 2021. He’s best remembered on the season for his match-winning kick against the Swans, which saw him kick a long-bomb from the boundary to seal the game in the two dying minutes.

The reliable big man will lead the helm in the ruck this season, but it is yet to be seen whether the club elects to play two ruckmen in 2022, with young Sam Hayes waiting for his opportunity. A reserves premiership player with Port Adelaide, Lycett remains a fan favourite for his physical team-first approach on the field.
