At a glance Junior Clubs: Goodwood Saints Clubs: Port Adelaide (2015 National Draft, pick 37) Debut: Round 23, 2016 Recruited from: West Adelaide Sponsor: Down South Cleaning Taken from West Adelaide with pick 37 in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft, the South Australian Under-18 backman studied Physical Education at the University of South Australia before being drafted. The classy left footer was made to bide his time before breaking into the AFL side but looks equally comfortable in defence or on the wing. TIMELINE 2016 Was a consistent running back for the Magpies in the SANFL, hitting peak form late in the season to earn a debut call-up for the AFL side in Round 23 against the Gold Coast Suns at Carrara. Classy with the ball in hand, he modelled his junior game on the Power's other elusive defender Jasper Pittard. 2017 Limited to just three games in the senior side, Riley Bonner looked right at home when given the opportunity. Bonner averaged 18 disposals a game, and the 20-year-old showed promising signs in last year’s elimination final. 2018 Winning the Rising Star nomination in Round 1 against the Dockers, set Bonner up for a strong season off the half back flank. The rebounding defender played a career-high 19 games and averaged 17 touches and 4.4 marks a game in 2018.
