Port Adelaide secured the signature of up-and-coming ruck Matilda Scholz during the 2023 priority signing period. A genuine ruck that possesses high athleticism and mobility, Scholz has quickly shown the power of her specialist skillset.
After a breakout 2024 which saw her claim Port Adelaide's Best & Fairest, the Rising Star Award, an All-Australian nomination, Mark of the Year and a second 22under22 selection, Scholz once again took her game to new heights in 2025, solidifying herself as one of the genuine stars of the competition. She averaged 22.8 hit outs per game (second in the competition) and six score involvements (fourth in the competition), continuing to assert her on-field dominance. She capped off her year with a second consecutive Best & Fairest medal and earned herself a spot in the final All-Australian side.
Having proven herself as the most talented players in the competition, the sky is truly the limit for the young ruck.
