Jacob Surjan returned to Port Adelaide ahead of the 2026 season, serving in a dual role as development coach and SANFL senior coach.
Known as a tough and reliable defender, Surjan landed at Alberton after being selected in the 2004 Pre-Season Draft. The fan favourite went onto play 121 games for the club and served as club vice-captain in 2010.
Following his playing career, Surjan moved into coaching and development roles, returning to the club as SANFL development manager and inaugural academy coach. He then progressed into an AFL development coaching role for three seasons between 2015 and 2017.
In 2018, he joined North Adelaide as the coach of the reserves side, before a promotion to head coach of the seniors in 2020, going on to guide the group to two grand finals.
In addition to leading Port Adelaide's SANFL side, Surjan works closely alongside former teammate Stuart Dew in developing Port Adelaide's midfield.
