PORT ADELAIDE won’t have any forced changes for Sunday’s meeting with Essendon, but will have some difficult decisions to make at selection.

Forward Todd Marshall resumed training on Wednesday after missing the loss to Richmond while isolating under the health and safety protocols, and the club’s 2022 leading goal kicker is almost certain to return to face the Bombers.

Another forward, Mitch Georgiades did his best to show he was ready for an immediate recall after a week in the SANFL.

The 20-year-old booted 2.2 from 15 disposals in the SANFL last weekend to make his case for an immediate recall to the AFL line-up.

There were others who performed strongly on a disappointing day against Sturt at Unley including midfielders Sam Mayes and Jackson Mead.

Both racked up 27 disposals while Mayes had nine tackles and a game-high six clearances, while Mead’s 11 tackles was two more than anyone else on the ground. An AFL emergency last week, Mead had three clearances and a team-high seven marks against the Double Blues.

Trent Dumont patrolled the wing with aplomb, finishing with eight tackles and two clearances to go with 21 disposals.

Forward Orazio Fantasia was moving more freely in the forward line in his second game back from a quad injury. The 26-year-old booted a goal and had eleven disposals, while applying plenty of front half pressure with five tackles.

Defender Martin Frederick was around the action all day, finishing with 19 disposals and three tackles, and forward-turned-defender Ollie Lord continued his development in defence with another strong showing.

Defender/wingman Riley Bonner was last week’s unused AFL medical substitute and will be hoping a strong week on the track will push him back into the starting 22.

Port Adelaide will on Thursday evening name a 26-man extended squad for the trip to Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.

The team will be finalised on Friday afternoon.

First bounce on Sunday is at 4:10pm ACST / 4:40pm AEST.
