Port Adelaide defender Josh Sinn underwent a successful reconstruction of his right shoulder on Friday.

The 23-year-old consulted a surgeon earlier this week after dealing with ongoing progressive discomfort and instability following a series of incidents throughout the pre-season.

The decision was made that surgery was the best course of action to resolve the issue and prevent further damage.

Sinn will be sidelined for an extended period, with an initial expected recovery timeline of five to six months.
