PORT ADELAIDE vice-captain Ange Foley has urged members and fans to get along to the side’s first AFLW home match on Saturday.

Tickets are selling fast for the historic game, and members are reminded to redeem their ticket to guarantee entry to the ground.

“(Alberton Oval) full is six thousand, so we’re hoping to absolutely get it full,” Foley said.

“We know what Port Adelaide supporters are – they’re passionate, they’re going to be loud and hopefully that gets us up and about.

“It’s just another thing we can add to the history that we’re creating. Everyone’s pretty excited, we’re hoping for a full crowd, were hoping for a sell-out and we’ve got our final training session tonight so we’re pretty excited for the weekend.”

Reflecting on last Saturday’s 12-point loss to West Coast, Foley was satisfied with how the group had reviewed the game.

“The last quarter was disappointing,” Foley said.

“Three quarter time we were up and about, we were definitely matching it with them, in fact we were winning. You know, we probably just took the foot off the pedal in the last quarter but there was heaps of potential and signs that we can definitely match it with them and we’re hoping to do that against the Doggies.

“We’re obviously here to have success and are probably a little bit disappointed about how Round One finished. We showed heaps of really amazing signs and we just want to continue that for our home crowd.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s game, Port Adelaide is determined to bring consistency against a well-established side.

“They’ve got some great midfielders and some experienced ones,” Foley said.

“They’ve obviously been in the competition seven seasons now so we’re definitely not going to take them lightly…I’m sure the crowd’s going to help us this week.”

Round One in Perth was the first time the 33-year-old had officially taken to the field since rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament during the 2021 AFLW grand final.

“Body is feeling good, really good,” she said.

“It’s nice to get the first AFLW game under my belt since my knee. I’m feeling really, really good, I pulled up really well and looking forward to the next one.

“I actually got it tested on Saturday – someone landed straight on top of it, and it didn’t feel amazing, but the first thing I thought of was ‘oh it’s fixed’ and that was a good thing.”
