WITH Travis Boak and Jeremy Finlayson pushing for a return to AFL action, Port Adelaide could be facing a selection headache heading into Round 2.

After a comfortable win over Brisbane on Saturday, minimal disruption to last week’s selected 22 is expected, but Trent McKenzie’s injury will force at least one change.

Boak missed the opening round as he recovered from a rib fracture, but the 34-year-old will be assessed as a possibility for selection the Collingwood clash.

Boak was mentioned by defender Kane Farrell on Tuesday as being ‘a bit cautious’ at training this week, but keenly eyeing a return to game-time.

Finlayson played out the first SANFL trial game of the year on Saturday and came back strong, six weeks after surgery to repair a syndesmosis injury.

As the number one ruck in Scott Lycett’s absence last year, Finlayson could be a welcome addition to the team to play a forward/second-ruck role.

McKenzie has been sidelined with a high-grade ankle sprain, with Tom Clurey or Jase Burgoyne both possible options to take his place.

The chance of an AFL debut for young defender Jake Pasini may also be on the cards following his return from a ruptured ACL sustained during training in May.

The 22-year-old was closing in on debut in 2022 before the devastating injury cut his season short.

Most non-selected players will line up in a SANFL pre-season trial game against Adelaide at Alberton Oval on Sunday morning from 10am.

The Port Adelaide Cheersquad is offering bus packages to get supporters to the club’s first away game of the season, while there will be pre-game and post-game supporter functions in Melbourne. Tickets are still available for the match.
