PORT ADELAIDE defender Ryan Burton has been suspended for rough conduct by the AFL’s Match Review Officer.

Burton has been handed a two-match ban for his tackle on Collingwood’s Jamie Elliot during the third quarter of Saturday’s game at the MCG.

The MRO graded the tackle as careless conduct with high contact and of high impact.

Burton and the club have until Monday to consider whether to appeal against the charge.

If the charge stands, the 26-year-old will miss this weekend’s Showdown and the trip to Sydney to face the Swans
