PORT ADELAIDE midfielder Hugh Jackson has undergone a successful hip arthroscopy, while Todd Marshall may sit out this Fridays' match simulation against Adelaide.

Jackson has been experiencing hip issues since returning from the Christmas break and has subsequently been restricted with his training.

He is expected to be sidelined until mid-year, following his procedure last Thursday.

Marshall has been experiencing pain and bruising in his foot since it was stepped on during last Friday's internal trial.

The key forward has been cleared of serious damage but may be managed this week.

New recruit Esava Ratugolea was withdrawn from the second half of the intraclub match on Friday as a precautionary measure after he reported pain in his knee.

The key defender spent Monday's training running along the boundary but is expected to be available for this week's pre-season game.

Multiple players are also expected to return this week following minor niggles including Aliir Aliir, Jeremy Finlayson and Trent McKenzie, while Willem Drew’s shoulder will also be assessed for clearance to play.

The team for Friday's game against the Crows will be released on Thursday afternoon.
