Port Adelaide has selected midfielder Mani Liddy with pick 16 in Wednesday night’s mid-season rookie draft.

The Central District product and former under-18 state captain is recognised for his high work-rate and clean hands.

Liddy collected the Fos Williams Medal as the SANFL’s best player in the state game earlier this month, finishing with 20 disposals, three clearances and three tackles.

With 51 league matches to his name, the 23-year-old has averaged 22.6 disposals, five clearances and 4.3 marks from seven games this year.

“Mani has continued to develop his game over the past few seasons after he made the move to Centrals from Sturt,” National Recruiting Manager Geoff Parker said.

“This year, he has become a damaging midfielder who anticipates quickly to get into a position to receive. He is very clean below his knees and has shown that he can win the ball in the contest and has the endurance to work up and down the ground.”

Liddy is Port Adelaide’s third pick in the mid-season rookie draft, joining Glenelg’s Harrison Ramm and North Adelaide’s Ewan Mackinlay.

Previously, Port Adelaide has chosenCam Sutcliffe (2019), Jed McEntee (2021), Brynn Teakle (2022), Quinton Narkle (2023) and Logan Evans (2024) in the mid-season rookie draft.
