Port Adelaide has partnered with Coles and Nova 919 to breathe new life into the West Croydon Football Club and help secure the struggling club’s future.
A proud community football club based in Adelaide’s western suburbs, West Croydon is facing a critical shortage of players across all age groups.
Despite recent facility upgrades, the club is struggling to field full teams, with participation needing to double in the immediate future to keep the doors open and provide young footballers a space to play.
More than just a club, West Croydon Football Club serves a diverse, low socio-economic community where many families face barriers to participation - including transport limitations and financial hardship.
These challenges have restricted access to traditional AFL development pathways and have caused a subsequent flow on effect into local football registrations at a grassroots level.
The new three-way partnership between Coles, Nova 919 and Port Adelaide is a strategic initiative designed to rebuild the club’s player base and re-engage the local community.
The campaign aims to double team participation by the 2026 season through investment, awareness, and grassroots engagement.
Support will include new guernseys, goal post safety padding, training equipment, signage and branding, and a dedicated marketing campaign, giving West Croydon the resources it needs to grow, compete, and inspire the next generation.
The initiative will culminate in a free community event led by Port Adelaide’s AFL and AFLW players, designed to drive awareness and encourage registrations for the upcoming season.
