Port Adelaide has announced its team for Sunday’s season opener against Fremantle, with a debutant set to run out alongside a 75-game veteran.

Crafty 18-year-old Jasmine Sowden will make her AFLW debut in Round 1, while Gemma Houghton celebrates her 75th game after a remarkable ten-year career.

Houghton will reach the milestone against her former side, Fremantle, at Alberton Oval, with the two-time All-Australian named in the forward line alongside Ash Woodland, Jaz Stewart, Justine Mules-Robinson, and Sowden.

Selected with pick 52 in the 2024 AFLW Draft, debutant Sowden impressed during pre-season practice matches with her elite skills on both sides of the body and sharp stoppage work, which ultimately saw her earn her spot.

Defender Ella Heads will also make her debut in Port Adelaide colours after being traded from the Sydney Swans at the end of the 2024 season, and Indy Tahau will make her long-awaited return to football following a serious knee injury that has sidelined her for 697 days.

Port Adelaide will face the Dockers from 3:40pm ACST on Sunday afternoon.

Gates at Alberton Oval open at 2:10pm with more information about the day at the  AFLW Game Day Hub.

Tickets remain available for the game with free entry for anyone under the age of 18.

If you can’t get to the ground, the game will be broadcast live on Channel 7, Fox Footy, Kayo, or Binge from 3:30pm ACST.
