Category B rookies Jacob Moss and Benny Barrett will both enjoy at least one more year in black, white and teal after extending until the end of 2026.

Moss has had an unlucky first year on Port Adelaide’s AFL list, fracturing his ankle early in the season, but the big-bodied 20-year-old managed five games in the SANFL.

Training as a key defender, he was also swung forward in one game to provide height and contest in an undermanned Magpies’ side.

Standing at 198-centimetres, Moss is athletic and strong in the air and has transferred his basketball background seamlessly into football.

Livewire Barrett was added as a category B rookie ahead of the 2025 season and played 14 SANFL games, before ending his season with a syndesmosis injury.

Boasting pace and creativity inside the forward 50, Barrett has continued to grow within an AFL system after featuring previously at reserves level for South Adelaide.

The 19-year-old averaged 11.6 disposals, 3.4 tackles and 2.2 inside-50s from 14 games in 2025.

Port Adelaide list manager Jason Cripps was pleased to extend the young pair.

“Jacob and Benny have demonstrated commitment and growth in their first year in our AFL program,” Cripps said.

“Despite an unfortunate injury setback this year, Jacob has adapted well to our AFL environment, showing a thirst to learn and responding positively to feedback.

“Benny has worked hard this season to have an impact at SANFL level, and shows promise as a developing small forward.

“Both players have great character and we look forward to supporting them to keep improving in 2026.”
