Port Adelaide has locked in a talented teenage trio until at least the end of 2027, with Jack Whitlock, Christian Moraes and Tom Cochrane extending.

Whitlock and Moraes were selected through the 2024 national draft at picks 33 and 38 respectively, while Cochrane was picked up in the 2024 rookie draft.

Debuting in Round 2 against Richmond, Moraes went on to play 14 games for the season, averaging 12.2 disposals and 2.8 marks.

Known for his running capacity and work-rate, the 19-year-old has been extended beyond his existing contract, which was in place until the end of 2026.

Whitlock earned an AFL opportunity in Round 21 and took the field for the final four games of the season, including the hugely memorable Round 24 win over Gold Coast.

His AFL appearances were punctuated by a three-goal, five-mark game against Carlton.

The 200-centimetre talent made his mark at SANFL level, kicking 16 goals from 14 matches and averaging 3.3 marks and almost 10 disposals.

Cochrane also had a taste of AFL football this season and on debut in Round 3, he became the first known AFL player with Tourette’s Syndrome.

The creative goal-kicker hit the scoreboard twice in three AFL games, after snagging two bags of four in a SANFL trial game and in Round 2 against Sturt.

Cochrane’s season unfortunately ended early with a foot injury, but the son of former Port Adelaide player Stuart has begun forging his own path at Alberton.

List manager Jason Cripps was pleased to extend the young trio.

“Jack, Christian and Tom have all shown they have what it takes to make an impact at AFL level,” Cripps said.

“Tom and Christian both earned opportunities early in the season, and they impressed the coaches with their skills and eagerness to learn.

“Jack’s patience paid off, and as a young key forward, he managed the step up to AFL football really well.

“All three players have enormous upside and so much growth ahead. We look forward to seeing them continue their journey at Port Adelaide, and making the most of their chances.”
