The Yartapuulti Football Club is pleased to announce co-vice-captain Amelie Borg has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping her at Alberton until at least the end of the 2027 AFLW season.

The 21-year-old has been a cornerstone of the Power’s defence since joining the club for its inaugural AFLW campaign in 2022, playing 36 games to date, including every possible match in the 2024 season.

A reliable lockdown tall, Borg combines impressive mobility and strength with a fiercely competitive edge, with her outstanding one-on-one ability a hallmark of her game.

Her 2024 season was rewarded with national recognition, earning an All-Australian nomination and selection in the AFLPA’s 22under22 team. At club level, she added both the Coaches’ Award and Players’ Player to her accolades at the Best and Fairest.

A lifelong Port Adelaide supporter, Borg said she was thrilled to extend her career at Alberton.

“It means so much. I've grown up supporting Port Adelaide my whole life. My dad, my sister and I were always driving in the car together playing Never Tear Us Apart – I think that just shows how much this club means to me,” Borg said.

“To be able to run out and hear that song just before the game…it’s huge. I couldn't be happier, to be honest.”

Elevated to co-vice-captain ahead of the 2025 season, Borg said she was honoured to help lead a young and ambitious group.

“I love this club, and I love these girls – there’s no better group that I’d want to help lead alongside Julia (Teakle) and Juzzy (Justine Mules-Robinson),” she said.

“For the girls to recognise me as a leader is a huge personal achievement.”

Yartapuulti’s Head of AFLW Shane Grimm said Borg’s extension underlined her commitment to the program and her growing influence on and off the field.

“Amelie is a heart-and-soul player who has been an integral part of our journey from day one,” Grimm said.

“She plays with passion and grit and leads by example – qualities that saw her elevated to co-vice-captain this year. We’re thrilled she has committed for at least the next two seasons.”
