Port Adelaide duo Ella Heads and Matilda Scholz have both been selected in the final AFL Players’ Association 22Under22 team.
The Power had the most players nominated in the extended squad of 44 with six, highlighting the club’s talented young core of developing footballers.
Heads made the move to the Power ahead of the 2025 season following 33 games at Sydney, with the 22-year-old making an instant impact at Alberton.
Averaging 13.8 disposals, 3.9 marks and 4.2 tackles, Heads has seamlessly shifted between wing and defence, taking on whichever role coach Lauren Arnell has required of her.
This is her second appearance in the final 22Under22 team, having previously been voted into the side at the end of 2023.
Last year’s Rising Star winner Scholz continues to gain national recognition as one of the best rucks in the competition, featuring for the second consecutive season in the final team.
The 20-year-old finished second in the competition for most hitouts and average hitouts, while also averaging 17 disposals, 4.3 marks and four clearances.
Scholz featured in 86 per cent of voters’ final 22Under22 teams, the most of any nominee in the league.
The AFLPA 22Under22 is a fan-voted concept, with the initial 44-person squad assembled by inaugural AFLW player and commentator Kate McCarthy, with support from the AFLPA and Champion Data.
