Port Adelaide midfielder Zak Butters has been selected to represent Victoria in the 2026 AAMI AFL Origin match. 

Taking place on Saturday, February 14 at Optus Stadium, Western Australia will host Victoria in the first AFL Origin game since 1999. 

Butters, the Power’s reigning best and fairest award winner, is eligible for selection based on his junior club location from which he was drafted. 

Growing up in Darley, Butters played football in his hometown before coming through the Coates Talent League with the Western Jets. 

The 25-year-old is among the first group of Victorians to be unveiled for the special pre-season game, alongside Western Bulldog Marcus Bontempelli, Geelong’s Jeremy Cameron and Gold Coast Sun Matt Rowell. 

The Victorian team has been chosen by Garry Lyon as the chair of selectors, supported by Vic head coach Chris Scott. 

The first four players in the Western Australian squad have also been unveiled, with Patrick Cripps, Aaron Naughton, Tom Barrass and Shai Bolton all named. 

Tickets will go on sale for club members on Tuesday,18 November at 11:30am ACDT via Ticketmaster, followed by general public access on Wednesday, 19 November.
