Port Adelaide has secured Brisbane Lions’ Ellie Hampson on day five of the AFLW Trade Period. 

In a trade with the Lions, the Power exchanged picks 28, 46 and a future third (2026) in return for the 54-game premiership player, a second-round pick (36), and a future fourth round pick (2026).  

Hampson arrives at Alberton with 54 games and 22 goals since debuting in 2020 and has firmly etched herself into Grand Final folklore, booting two crucial goals in Brisbane’s 2023 premiership triumph. 

Originally recruited to the Gold Coast Suns from Hermit Park and Coorparoo, the versatile midfield-forward was traded to Brisbane during the 2023 Sign and Trade period, where she quickly established herself as a key contributor in the Lions’ offence.

Her combination of midfield strength and forward-line presence make her a potent weapon inside 50 while also adding valuable experience and leadership to the Power’s developing list. 

 This season, Hampson averaged 10.1 disposals, highlighted by a dominant 15-disposal performance against Carlton in Round 3 and a two-goal haul against the Blues again in the Preliminary Final. 

 Port Adelaide AFLW List Manager Naomi Maidment said Hampson’s experience and versatility will be a welcome addition to the club’s AFLW side. 

 “Ellie is a talented, versatile player with invaluable finals experience,” Maidment said. 

 “She provides flexibility offensively, giving us more options around the contest and forward of centre. 

 “Ellie has some really, distinct Port Adelaide traits especially her strength around the contest and relentlessness, and we’re delighted she will be joining the program.”
