Port Adelaide has welcomed versatile utility Lucy Boyd to Alberton following a trade completed with the West Coast Eagles on the final day of the AFLW Trade Period.
In the deal, the Power receives Boyd, a second-round pick (30), and a future third-round pick (2026) in exchange for Lily Paterson, who requested a trade home to Western Australia, pick 36 (2025), along with a future fourth-round pick (2026).
Boyd, a developing versatile player, hails from South Australia and is known for her strong marking ability and natural football instincts.
Standing at 172cm, the 19-year-old can play as an intercept defender or as a forward with aerial presence, adding valuable depth to the Power’s emerging list.
Port Adelaide List Manager Naomi Maidment said the trade strengthens both the club’s list profile and draft hand.
“Lucy is a young, talented and smart footballer, and we see her as someone who can grow quickly within our program,” Maidment said.
“The addition of a future third-round pick gives us great flexibility moving forward and aligns with our strategy of prioritising the draft as we continue to develop our list.
“We now move into next Monday’s draft with picks 10 and 30, giving us a great opportunity to select top talent.
“This trade period has allowed us to strengthen our draft capital, target youth, and bring in a player with well-rounded finals experience in Ellie Hampson.”
Maidment also acknowledged Paterson’s contribution to the club and wished her well as she returns home.
“Lily has been a valued member of our group, and while we’re sad to see her go, we understand her reasons and thank her for everything she has given to our program.”
At the completion of the 2025 AFLW Trade Period, the Power has added 24-year-old premiership player Ellie Hampson and the Eagles’ Lucy Boyd to its list, along with a 2025 second-round pick, and a future third and fourth-round pick (2026) to bolster its draft hand.
