Port Adelaide defender Harrison Ramm sustained an injury to his right ankle on Saturday during a SANFL pre-season match.
Ramm suffered a partial syndesmosis tear and will consult a surgeon this week to determine the best course of management.
Todd Marshall has recovered well after rolling his ankle during Sunday's AFL game and is expected to be available, while Tom Cochrane is nearing a return to full training.
Mani Liddy remains a test this week as he manages groin soreness.
Port Adelaide will announce its final team for Sunday's game against Essendon on Friday afternoon at 4:30pm.
