Port Adelaide has named an extended squad for Sunday’s 2026 NAB AFLW season opener against Fremantle, with three players set to make their debuts. 

Crafty 19-year-old Sophie Eaton will make her AFLW debut after the Power selected her with pick 17 in the 2025 Telstra AFLW Draft. 

A talented utility best known for her elite decision-making and exceptional football IQ, Eaton has been named at half-back following an impressive pre-season. 

She will be joined in the backline by fellow debutant Olivia Crane, who was selected by Port Adelaide with pick 30 in last year’s national draft. 

A strong intercept marker with damaging foot skills, the Perth product is set to play her first AFLW game on home soil, alongside experienced defenders Amelie Borg, Teagan Germech and Ebony O’Dea. 

After joining Port Adelaide just one week ago as an injury replacement player, Emily Elkington’s whirlwind start to life at the club will continue, with the small forward set to pull on the Port Adelaide guernsey for the first time this weekend. 

Standing at 157cm, Elkington made her AFLW debut for West Coast in 2023 after being selected with pick 22 in the 2022 AFLW Draft, going on to play five games for the Eagles. 

A fierce competitor with an ability to use the ball effectively, Elkington has been named on the interchange alongside experienced campaigners Molly Brooksby, Shineah Goody, Ella Boag and Maria Moloney. 

The Power’s extended bench also features potential debutant Grace Parsons, as well as club debutant Lucy Boyd and forward Julia Teakle. 

The extended bench of eight will be trimmed to five when final teams are confirmed at 4:30pm ACST on Friday. 

Port Adelaide will face Fremantle from 2:05pm ACST on Sunday at Fremantle Oval. The game will be broadcast live on Channel 7, Fox Footy, Kayo and Binge from 2:00pm ACST.
