Yartapuulti has named its team for Sunday’s Indigenous Round clash against the Giants in Canberra, with two key inclusions set to add experience and depth to the side.

Co-vice-captain Sachi Syme and midfielder Piper Window have been named to play their first games of the 2026 season, with Syme selected in defence and Window set to bolster the midfield.

Syme has been named at half-back and will line up alongside fellow co-vice-captain Amelie Borg, Teagan Germech, Olivia Crane and Cheyenne Hammond.

Window will join Ella Boag, Ella Heads, Matilda Scholz, Ash Woodland and Maria Moloney through the midfield.

Gemma Houghton, a proud Yindjibarndi woman, has also been named in the forward line during the league’s annual Indigenous Round.

Ebony O’Dea, Shineah Goody, Abbey Dowrick, Molly Brooksby and Emily Elkington have been named on the interchange, with Kirsty Lamb to be managed after a consistent pre-season and Sophie Eaton omitted.

Yartapuulti last faced the Giants in Round 12 of the 2025 season, recording a 57-point victory at Henson Park.

The match marked a historic occasion for Houghton, who booted a goal after the final siren to become the first player in AFLW history to reach 100 career goals.

In celebration of the league’s Indigenous Round, Yartapuulti will proudly wear its First Nations guernsey, designed by Kaurna Elder and former player Uncle Mickey Kumatpi O’Brien.
