Port Adelaide forward Indy Tahau will miss the remainder of the 2026 AFLW season after scans confirmed a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her right knee.
Tahau sustained the injury late in the third quarter of the side’s Round 3 clash against the GWS Giants in Canberra and was assisted from the ground, taking no further part in the game.
Port Adelaide Head of AFLW Dan Merrett said the news was devastating for Tahau and the wider football program.
“To suffer a season-ending injury so early in the season is incredibly tough news for Indy and the entire football club,” Merrett said.
“Indy had an incredible season last year and made another strong start to the 2026 season. There’s no doubt we will sorely miss her out on the field.
“Her immediate thought post-game was her teammates and celebrating the win with them, which is a credit to Indy’s character and team-first attitude.
“Despite another setback, Indy has shown remarkable maturity and dedication throughout her injury rehabilitation journey.
“We’re confident she’ll attack this next phase with the same determination and professionalism she has shown previously, and she will have the full support of the football club.”
Tahau will undergo reconstructive surgery in the coming week before beginning her rehabilitation program with the club.
