Jarrad Schofield on the loss to North Melbourne:

“In my short time here, it was definitely the most disappointing loss I’ve been a part of.

“To compare it to other games is obviously tough. As a coaching group and playing group, we are bitterly disappointed that we served up that type of game.

Schofield on the focus shift to this weekend against Fremantle:

“We have more important things to worry about than other sides.

“We need to make sure we can get the job done. The boys will come in today and have a strong review.

“We need to make sure we turn that page and get our heads in the right space, and make sure we get the job done this weekend.

Schofield on the post-match review:

“Ken’s post-match was very honest.

“There was a lot of two-way conversation. He was very calculated and very honest. He asked a lot of questions.

“We want answers. It is important the players come up with some answers themselves. They identify and self-assess as a collective, and that’s what they did.

Schofield reflecting on Saturday night’s loss:

“Full credit to North Melbourne for what they did.

“We tried to adapt but we were off our game, and we couldn’t pull it back. We were playing reactive footy and it felt like we were just chasing them all night.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t have moments where we could arrest the momentum. It was an onslaught.

Schofield on responding strongly this week:

“We are fully connected to a common goal,”

“This is obviously a disappointing loss. It’s about owning it and assessing why, and we will have those conversations again with the players in our review.

“We get back on the track. We’ve got this week - destiny is in our own hands. We are going to make sure we get our job done, and finish off on a real positive.”

Schofield on the closeness of the AFL competition:

“It just shows you, if you’re off your game with the competition so even (you’re vulnerable),”

“It happened the week before to Essendon - they came back and beat Fremantle over there. North Melbourne copped it from Geelong - they came back and touched us up.

“It’s just the nature of the competition. It’s a tough gig winning multiple games in a row. We were on a bit of a run. There was a lot of external noise where we were going because we had two wins.

“We felt like we were playing some good footy over a period of time, and we hit a major speed hump on the weekend.”

Schofield on Connor Rozee and the young group at Alberton:

“He is a super young man,”

“Without putting too much pressure on the club and the player, you can see him as a future leader of the footy club.

“It’s only his first year and he’s the leading goalkicker. He’s composed. But we shouldn’t be relying on an 18-year-old fella to be doing all of that.

“We need to make sure we give him more support. But he has been a super talent, along with Butters, Duursma and Drew - you could go through a list of them - Ladhams and these guys.”
