PORT ADELAIDE forward Billy Frampton is free to play in the 2019 SANFL Statewide Super League Grand Final after successfully challenging his report for striking Glenelg’s Chris Curran.

Frampton’s charge was reduced from a two-game ban to a reprimand and $200 fine after the SANFL Tribunal ruled contact made with Curran was of a low impact, rather than the initial assessment of medium force.

Speedy forward Aidyn Johnson was less fortunate in his appeal for striking, with his two-game suspension upheld.

The SANFL Tribunal stood firm in their determination that Johnson made contact of medium impact with Curran rather than accepting his defence that the contact was of low force.

Johnson will therefore miss Port Adelaide’s Grand Final bid in a fortnight’s time.

Port Adelaide has decided against a secondary appeal, meaning the tribunal’s decision will stand.

Port Adelaide’s Grand Final opponent will be determined by the outcome of this Sunday’s Preliminary Final between Glenelg and Adelaide.
