Peter Ladhams on the decision to re-sign with Port:

“I was always a Port supporter growing up.

“I grew up in Adelaide, only two minutes away from the club, so I always wanted to stay here. It was a really easy decision for me.

Todd Marshall on his decision to re-sign with the club:

“I was already contracted for next year but when the club approached me it was a really easy decision.

“They have helped me a lot through some stuff. It was a really simple decision.

“They are pretty close to me - I have a pretty good connection with a lot of guys at the club. Kenny especially, he has helped me through a lot of stuff.

“He’s given me time off when I’ve needed it. Pretty close with a lot of people here. It feels like family here.

Marshall on his relationship with Paddy Ryder:

“Me and Paddy (Ryder) have grown really close.

“I guess you can call him a father-figure. I lean on him a lot. Go to him whenever I want and catch up with him for coffees and stuff like that.

Ladhams on Port’s faith in him:

“Being from Adelaide, I wanted to stay with my family.

“The club has shown faith in me - this is my third year now - by keeping me on the rookie list. I’m starting to hit my straps a little bit this year.

“I’ve had a bit of form in the SANFL and played a couple of AFL games. I wanted to stay faithful to the club.”

“The reason I wanted to stay, was because of the faith Port has showed in me,”

“I didn’t really play well in the SANFL last year and they could’ve easily moved me on, but they showed faith and gave me an extra year.

“Now I am over the moon to sign a three-year deal.

Ladhams on his prospects of playing AFL football:

“I think there’s an opportunity, whether it be forward or ruck to play at AFL level.

“I love the club. I could never say a bad word about them. There wasn’t too much from my manager in regards to interest from other clubs.

“Having the competition for spots has helped me a bit. No one can become complacent, and you have to keep working hard to earn your spot.

“Rather than just going to a club who don’t have a ruckman. I’d rather earn my spot to play.

Ladhams on his form this year and some changes in lifestyle:

“I always knew I had it in me.

“I just had to fix a few things up, like my professionalism which has let me down a little bit in the past. I have that under control this year and it has helped me in a huge way.

“The biggest thing for me was that I moved out of home this year - I’m living with Billy Frampton now. It’s made me grow up.

“Also, my body prep stuff. Getting my body right for games - the past two years I’ve had some niggles, but this year I haven’t.

“I had a good pre-season which has led into the season, which has been good.

Ladhams on leading the ruck duties against the Bombers:

“It was awesome to lead the ruck on the weekend.

“It was a dream come true, something I wasn’t really expecting from the position I was in last year.

“I think I’ve worked pretty hard this year, and I’m pretty proud of what I’ve done.

Marshall on his return to the senior side:

“It was a little bit of a relief, it was probably the most nervous I have been before a game.

“Obviously dropping Lycett and bringing in a few forwards was really daunting, but Kenny has always had a bit of faith in me.

“To perform on the weekend was good and hopefully we can keep going forward for the next few weeks.

Marshall on his year to date and advice from the coaches:

“I probably had a bit of a form slump through the middle of the year.

“I wasn’t hitting the scoreboard as much as I wanted. I was still working pretty hard and working on that stuff.

“The coaches and Kenny said keep working hard, it will come back. The last couple of weeks I have hit the scoreboard again, and I’ve had a lot of fun.
