AS Port Adelaide prepares to face Richmond at Adelaide Oval in Round 12 of the 2018 AFL season, portadelaidefc.com.au takes a look back on the last time the sides met.

It was round 15 of the 2017 season and Port Adelaide was looking to shake the tag of a team that failed to beat top eight contenders.

In a less than memorable encounter, the Power took a 15-point lead to the main break with Chad Wingard dominating in the middle and Sam Powell-Pepper showing glimpses of his talent in his first season.

Jackson Trengove was playing a defensive forward role to great effect and limiting the impact of Alex Rance and the home crowd was expecting Port to go on with the job.

But what came after the break showed the Tigers were a realistic premiership prospect.

They booted eight goals to three, including six in a row to silence the nearly 40,000 people in attendance.

Port Adelaide would be left to rue its inaccuracy in front of goal as the Tigers went on to win by 13 points with eventual Brownlow Medallist Dustin Martin putting in a best on ground performance with 37 touches and a goal.

For the Power, Wingard was superb with 39 disposals and six marks while Powell-Pepper (24 touches, three marks, two goals) and Paddy Ryder (17 touches, 42 hit-outs and five tackles) were key contributors.
