WESTERN BULLDOGS Jack Macrae has lost his spot at the top of the AFL fantasy leaderboard, with a new, surprise leader taking over.

The Bulldogs and Hawks bye gave Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy the chance to leapfrog both him and Tom Mitchell.

Grundy – who features in a quarter of all AFL fantasy teams in 2018 – had 101 points against Melbourne on Monday, below his 119.4 average.

He had 38 hit-outs against Demon’s big man Max Gawn, but also chipped in with 13 disposals, seven tackles, and a mark.

Gawn is ranked fourth overall in AFL fantasy so it was an impressive performance by Grundy.

The Collingwood star’s value actually dropped by $8,000 on that performance but he has still added $62,000 to his price since round one and is still the second most expensive player in the competition.

Four Port Adelaide players managed to pass 100 fantasy points in the win over Richmond on Friday night with Ollie Wines the best performer with 138.

That saw him become the fourth Power player to pass 1000 fantasy points but 106 points from Justin Westhoff kept him at the top of the club’s overall leaderboard.

Justin Westhoff (mid/fwd - $654,000)

Westhoff lost $5,000 in value despite recording 106 AFL fantasy points, more than his 101.1 average this season.

He remains the only Port Adelaide player averaging 100 points or more in 2018.

Westhoff had 23 disposals, three marks, 10 hit-outs, three tackles and three vital goals when he was particularly dominant in the first half.

Last week 14,798 AFL fantasy coaches recognised his point-scoring ability and that number has remarkably almost doubled this week. He is now in 23267 teams – around 17 per cent of the competition.

Darcy Byrne-Jones (def - $568,000)

Averaging 82.6 points per round, Byrne-Jones smashed that figure with a career-high 108 against the Tigers.

He also had a season-high seven marks to go with 21 disposals and six tackles.

In his last seven games, Byrne-Jones has averaged 94.7 points, a number which keeps rising by the week.

The 22-year-old is now in 2980 AFL fantasy teams, tripling his tally from a fortnight ago, and has added an impressive $123,000 to his value since the start of the season.

Chad Wingard (mid/fwd - $469,000)

In the face of plenty of criticism, Wingard started on the ball and was on from the outset.

He had a game-high 31 disposals, five marks, and eight tackles, finishing with 121 AFL fantasy points.

That is nearly double his season average of 69.8 points.

Having lost $180,000 in value since the start of the season including a $20,000 boost after the game against the Tigers, he represents good value if the performance kick-starts his season.

Ollie Wines (mid - $600,000)

Wines added $22,000 to his value after his performance against the reigning premiers.

He had 29 disposals, four marks and 12 tackles in a dominant display of in-and-under football.

Wines also had season-highs for kicks (18) and tackles (12).

His 138 points was his highest of the season and well in excess of his season average of 92.

The tally ranked second in the AFL behind only GWS midfielder Josh Kelly’s 166 and was the perfect way to respond to a total of just 64 against Hawthorn a week earlier.

Sam Powell-Pepper (mid - $517,000)

Having played in just his seventh game of the season against Richmond, he tallied 93 points, a handy 12.7-point buffer over his season average.

On Friday night, he had a season-high 28 touches including a season-high 19 handballs, as well as six tackles and a mark.

The 20-year-old has added $40,000 to his overall value and $15,000 alone against the Tigers.
