MATTHEW LOBBE is headed back home to Victoria, after Port Adelaide completed a trade with Carlton for the mature ruckman.

The Blues receive Lobbe in exchange for Pick 95 in this year's draft.

Port Adelaide List Manager Jason Cripps said Lobbe’s move will benefit all parties involved.

“It’s been a difficult couple of seasons for Matthew, first with injury and then with All-Australian ruckman Paddy Ryder holding down the first ruck role in our side,” Cripps said.

“Matthew is a great person who deserves to be playing AFL and Carlton are offering that opportunity.”

Lobbe said he has mixed emotions leaving Alberton where he was recently inducted as a life member after ten seasons.

“Port Adelaide has been a massive part of my life for the past decade and I’ve learned so much in my time there, but the time is right for a change,” Lobbe said.

“Carlton has offered me a great opportunity to play regular AFL football and it’s one I’m determined to make the most of.”

Lobbe was chosen with pick 16 in the 2007 National Draft and made his AFL debut in Round 5 of the 2010 season.

The 28-year-old leaves Alberton having played 92 AFL games.
