PROMISING youngsters Ben Haren and Ben Sawford have signed contracts with Port Adelaide and will form part of the club's SANFL League player pool in the 2014 season.

Both played throughout 2013 in the club's Reserves team, but earned promotion to the League side midway through the year.

Haren, 21, returned to Port Adelaide from Sydney where he was a listed rookie while Sawford, 19, is a former Macca's Cup MVP nominee and won the 'Most Dedicated' player award for the Reserves this year.

The duo will be eligible to play League football and with the club's Academy team at Reserves-grade level next year.

Their contracts come on the back of senior defender Aseri Raikiwasa signing on to the club's pool last month along with the newly rookie-listed Sam Gray.

That makes three confirmed signings for the League pool, with a further seven confirmations to come on portadelaidefc.com.au on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Port Adelaide's SANFL senior coach Garry Hocking told portadelaidefc.com.au both players are promising talents who will contribute significantly to the club in the state league.

"Both Bens have shown commitment and a really positive attitude at our pre-season training so far and we're looking forward to what they can bring us next year," said Hocking.

"Haren is a ruck who's got potential to develop into a damaging player for us, while Benny Sawford has been really consistent in the Under-18s and Reserves over the last couple of years.

"They come from our recruiting zones too - so they know the Port Adelaide way and want to continue it - and we want to help develop the pair of them into prospective AFL footballers."

portadelaidefc.com.au will announce two more of the Magpies' League pool players on Thursday.
