Former Carlton captain Marc Murphy is under an injury cloud ahead of Sunday's clash with Port Adelaide at the Gabba.

CARLTON will be sweating on the fitness of perhaps its two biggest names with co-captain Patrick Cripps and former skipper Marc Murphy both under an injury cloud ahead of Sunday’s game against Port Adelaide.

Cripps left the field with a shoulder injury in the first quarter of the Blues’ impressive win over the Western Bulldogs last Sunday.

The 25-year-old was able to return to the field but his impact was limited.

Carlton’s medical staff expect him to take his place in the side, but they are not as confident about Murphy, who injured his hip late in the win over the Dogs.

The veteran midfielder remains a bit sore and will undergo a fitness test on Friday to determine if he can take his place in the side.

Jack Silvagni is pushing for a return from a rib injury. He narrowly missed selection last week but is likely to be in line to come in if Murphy drops out.

Zac Fisher is another who selectors would be considering for the eighth-placed Blues, who sit two games and percentage behind the top-ranked Port.

Carlton will name a 26-man squad on Thursday night before trimming it to 22 on Friday afternoon.
