IN response to member, supporter and media inquiries following the Geelong Football Club delegation to Adelaide on Sunday, Port Adelaide Football Club chief executive officer Keith Thomas makes the following statement:

"We respect the Geelong Football Club very much, but if Matthew Primus, Domenic Cassisi and Travis Boak were to bowl into Geelong to meet with Joel Selwood, I am sure Brian Cook, his players and supporters would feel more than a little disrespected.

Subtle conversations are one thing, but arriving with shiny buttons and a brass band is quite a different matter.

We will keep talking to Travis and we remain very comfortable with where our discussions with him are placed."

The club will make no further comment.
