PORT Adelaide defender Jasper Pittard remains in hospital in Darwin recovering from injuries suffered in Saturday night’s clash with Melbourne at TIO Stadium.

Pittard suffered a fractured rib and partially collapsed lung in a collision late in the first quarter before being substituted out of the game.

The 21-year-old is expected to remain in hospital at least until Tuesday when arrangements will be made to bring him back to Adelaide by land because the nature of his lung injury prevents him travelling by air for at least a fortnight.

Pittard was playing his first AFL game for 2012 after recovering from hamstring injuries.

Port Adelaide is not yet in a position to say when Pittard is likely to return to action, but it is anticipated that he will play again in 2012.
