THREE-time John Cahill Medallist Kane Cornes is set to play his 239th game for Port Adelaide this weekend - drawing him level with older brother and former Power back man, Chad.

In doing so, Cornes continues his hot pursuit of the club’s games record in the AFL.

Once equal with his brother, Kane will be only one game from second-placed Peter Burgoyne and just sixteen games adrift from record holder Warren Tredrea.

Cornes has been one of the Power’s most prolific AFL stars.

Drafted from SANFL club Glenelg with pick 20 in the 2000 AFL National Draft, Cornes debuted against Hawthorn in Round 10 the following year.

The 29-year-old’s list of achievements in the Power jumper is unrivalled - playing in the club’s inaugural AFL premiership in 2004, he won awards for Port Adelaide’s Best First Year Player (2001) and Most Improved (2004).

His polling ability at the Power’s best and fairest is significant - winning the John Cahill medal three times in 2007, 2008 and 2010, finishing runner up in 2004, 2005 and 2009 and third in 2006.

He has tallied prominently at the Brownlow Medal count as well with 46 votes to his name.

His statistical figures are impressive and highlight his impeccable ability as one of Port’s best ever ball winners.

He won 41 possessions against the Bulldogs in 2008 and scored 15 tackles in the Power’s three point win over West Coast in 2010 - both figuring in the top five for Port's all-time statistics.

Cornes also holds the most number of consecutive games played in a Port Adelaide jumper in the AFL - a total sequence of 174 games from 2003 until 2001 - and is placed ninth overall on the all-time record of the competition.
