JASPER Pittard has been taken to hospital with a suspected rib injury.

Pittard was crunched in a marking contest by teammate Chad Wingard's knee and left the ground soon after.
He was taken to hospital as a precaution and replaced in the game by sub Aaron Young.

It's horrible luck for Pittard, who was playing his first AFL game for 2012 following a spate of hamstring injuries.

The club will give an update on Pittard's condition when information comes to hand.
