To Port Adelaide Members and Supporters,
The Port Adelaide Football Club is thrilled to appoint Keith Thomas as its new Chief Executive Officer, and looks forward to him leading the next era in our long and successful journey.
As President of the Club, it is my privilege to inform you of the appointment of the 27th CEO/General Manager in Port Adelaide’s proud 141-year history.
Keith was the first choice from an outstanding field of candidates assembled in a national search. More than 40 people were assessed by a sub-committee of the Board of the Port Adelaide Football Club, working with an independent consultant. He has a brilliant record, comes with high endorsements and fulfills every requirement of an AFL club CEO as outlined - at our request - by the AFL.
Keith is an exceptionally talented administrator who is held in the highest regard through the senior executive roles he has held, notably in radio. Between 1997 and 2010 he worked for DMG Radio Australia, serving in the national role of Group Sales Director for a decade. He has a vast corporate experience and an extensive nation-wide network of contacts that will be of great benefit to the Port Adelaide Football Club.
Most recently, he has worked as a Management Consultant to the Stadium Management Authority, responsible for attracting corporate revenue to the Adelaide Oval redevelopment.
Keith also has a celebrated football career, which earned him a place in the SA Football Hall of Fame. He played more than 300 games with Norwood (1979-1986 and 1989-1993) and spent two seasons (1987-1988) with Fitzroy in the then VFL.
Keith’s sporting experience gives him a unique perspective of not only the game but more importantly what makes Port Adelaide great. He joins us knowing that it is the people and the culture of our Club that are responsible for its past and future success. Keith is committed to Port Adelaide and its football journey and will be guided by a determination to make a significant and lasting contribution to the Club and its people.
We know that Keith is the right man for the next phase at Port Adelaide, particularly as we all work towards the exciting era when our AFL games are played at Adelaide Oval. Keith is honoured to be taking up the legacy of all previous Port Adelaide administrators, including Brian Cunningham, John James and Mark Haysman.
Keith is an outstanding asset to Port Adelaide and I trust you will join me in welcoming him to the team, and giving him support and every opportunity to build on what we all love about our Club.
Yours sincerely,
Brett Duncanson
President
