A NUMBER of significant deals were completed on Wednesday, with the NAB AFL Trade Period beginning to hit full swing as we approach the midway point of the window.

AFL.com.au's Trade Winds will provide a round-up of the latest action each morning until the end of the NAB AFL Trade Period on Wednesday, October 17.

Dockers take a step towards Hogan deal

Fremantle could be moving closer to securing a trade for Melbourne forward Jesse Hogan, though it is likely dependant on Lachie Neale's future, according to multiple reports.

The Age reports that Hogan has passed a medical examination at the Dockers, with the club said to have had an orthopaedic surgeon assess scans of the youngster's troublesome foot before giving him the green light.

However, for the deal to be completed, the Herald Sun reports Fremantle will have to find at least two first-round draft picks to satisfy Melbourne's demands.

The Dockers currently have pick No.6, but have also been offered pick No.5 from the Lions in a trade for reigning best and fairest winner Neale.

It means that a deal taking Hogan to Fremantle could depend on Neale heading to Brisbane.

Suns consider May replacement

Gold Coast is looking at "contingency plans" in the event captain Steven May requests a trade to Victoria, according to The Courier-Mail.

May is yet to inform the Suns if he will pursue a move during this month's trade period, or see out the final year of his contract at Metricon Stadium in 2019.

However, according to the report on Wednesday night, Gold Coast has a list of targets that it will only begin considering should May opt for a return to Victoria.

Port Adelaide defender Jack Hombsch is said to be on that list, though the Suns have denied meeting with the player already.

A deadline for May to decide on his future is approaching, with Gold Coast reiterating earlier this week that a trade would be too hard to complete should the uncertainty linger for much longer.

Hawks the only home for Cyril

Hawthorn is the only team Cyril Rioli would consider should he ever make a return to football, though the possibility is unlikely for the Hawks' premiership star.

The Herald Sun reports Rioli told this week's Howie Games Podcast that he doesn't see himself playing football at the highest level again, having retired this year.

However, if he were to make a shock comeback, Hawthorn was the only team he would consider.

"I'm pretty happy and content where I am back home," Rioli said.

"If I were to (return), obviously the Hawks. I couldn't really see myself playing anywhere else to be honest."

Rioli returned midway through this year after 189 games and four premierships with Hawthorn.

Pies defender a man in demand

A three-way battle for Collingwood defender Tom Langdon is beginning to heat up, according to reports in The Age.

Sydney and Fremantle lead the chasing pack, with Collingwood still desperate to retain the classy 24-year-old, who starred for the Pies on Grand Final day last month.

Langdon has travelled to Africa on holiday, where he is expected to ponder his decision, with the Swans and the Dockers a realistic chance of prising him away from the Pies.

The intercept defender had a medical with the Swans on Tuesday but may lean towards joining his brother Ed at the Dockers ahead of next season.

Langdon has a two-year offer on the table from Collingwood but is reportedly searching for the security of a longer-term deal.
